Great Western War X

Greetings and Good Evening to everyone!

We had an awesome time at Great Western War X! It was great to see everyone who made it and the few new faces that we've quickly come to call friends. The site chosen had a few challenges to overcome but it turned out to be perfect for our needs. The few trees in the Island (as I'm coming to call it) gave us all quite a bit of shade, and that matched with the cool weather kept everyone (hounds included) from overheating.
Thursday we only had a few dogs (as expected) and called it quits quite short. Friday more dogs, more fun. We had some newcomers in on Friday most notably a Border Collie named Baby who after a few times chasing another dog figured out what to do and on Saturday was off on her own without a thought! Too bad her owner hails from Atenvelt or we might see her more often. We were also happy to see Lucy (short for Lucifer and well deserved) plus her owner Barbara Coole. Although Lucy pulled her down bruising her arm and hands (our only injury this war), she was very appreciative and gifted us a handmade snack pouch. Also I got plenty of VIDEO and plan to put something up soon.

Now for the bad news.  Somewhere between Saturday and Sunday the Battery and my personal Charger was taken from Headquarters. I am hoping it was just an innocent mistake but we may never see these items again. Shame that we'll need to replace the battery before any more coursing can take place.

Overall GWW was a great time. Can't wait till next year!

Update: In the end, the battery was found along with "a" battery charger, though it was not Sigbjörn personal one. Atleast we won't have to go without.

Angus, a Pembroke(?) Corgi, absolutely loves coursing.
The Danes showed up in thier racing silks looking dapper. While it is Dexter that loves to run, DJ is all about vocalizing his support!
If it was up to Dex he would be running every time the lure took off, so it is well advised to hold on to him with both hands.
Thr Border Collie drive shines through, as Baby just after a try or 2 takes to it like she been doing it for years.
An ole Pro, Baron, a St Bernard, demonstrates even the big hounds relish coursing.

Another Dane came out to run. A first timer, she seemed more interested in all the neat smells and people but had fun all the same.
